Anniversary Outing

Our 6th anniversary was on June 8th which happened to be the same time we were in Iowa, so on our way home we stayed over night in Kansas City for a little celebrating.  We ate at The Melting Pot Sunday night downtown on the Plaza.  Jake wasn't so sure about this high falutin' place, but was willing to try anything once.  And he was so glad he did!
We told them it was our anniversary so they sat us in a private booth that was behind curtains.  So we took some pictures.  I warned him, that they were going on the blog.  So this is what face he chose to make... Haha!  That's one of the things I love about him!
Our first course was cheese fondue.
The 2nd course was a salad.
The third course was the main course with the meat and broth fondue.  I chose the steak platter, while Jacob is a little more adventurous when it comes to food and chose a platter that contained duck and some other odd things...  This course also came with six different dipping sauces that were phenomenal.

We each had 3 fondue forks and it took about a minute and a half to two minutes to cook the meat.  They also gave us a bowl of veggies to throw in the broth and cook with the meat.
And the fourth and final and most fabulous course was the chocolate fondue.  It was accompanied with a delicious plate of fruit, cakes, brownies, oreo covered marshmallows, and rice krispie treats.
We chose the caramel toffee crunch chocolate and it did not disappoint!

At the end of the meal, they left us with 6 chocolate covered strawberries.
After such a filling supper, we headed to our hotel, also on the Plaza.  We stayed at the Raphael Signature Hotel by Marriott.  So my husband was a little nervous when I told him it didn't have a Super 8 on the door, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay...
 ...which included breakfast in bed!

We kind of bummed around in the morning, not in any big hurry to get going.  We ended up just browsing and doing a little shopping downtown and headed the rest of the way home after lunch.
I can't believe it has been 6 years already!  I love him more each day!  God has been so good to us and we continue to thank Him for His hand in our lives!

Quality Time in Iowa

Jacob was able to go to South Dakota with all my brothers and my Dad for some prairie dog hunting several weeks ago.  So I got to spend some quality time with my sister-in-law, niece, and nephews.  I think I got the better part of that deal!

Baby L was such a sweetheart!  I enjoyed getting to cuddle with her at nap times and listening to her giggle.  Could she be any cuter?
We spent a lot of time playing with the boys.  We played baseball, where I was informed that when their Dad pitches to them, they can hit all the balls, but when I did the pitching, well... it wasn't very good ;)

We went on a bike trail one afternoon.  The 2 older boys on their bikes and the rest of us walking or getting pushed in the stroller.  It was a beautiful day to be out in nature!
 T hamming it up!
He found a "fishing pole" on the trail, so we stopped at one of the bridges and caught some fish.

The boys were entertained for quite awhile seeing how far they could throw rocks into the river.
We played at a neat park for a little bit before heading home for some naps.

When I looked at my Ipad after the weekend I found about 80 pictures like this.  I am not exaggerating.  At least 80 pictures!  Someone learned how to take selfies :)

I will always cherish the memories I get to make with my nieces and nephews.  I can't wait until I can see them again!

Cupcake Wrappers

Remember when I told you I did about 1000 cupcake wrappers for my cousin's wedding a while back?

Here they are all set up at the reception.  The bride went with a vintage-y burlap & lace theme and all the decorations were so pretty!  I wish I had more pictures to show you.

30th Birthday Party Kid's Style

My brother, Trevor, turned 30 last month and he planned a a big bash for the family.  We had a fish fry, soft serve ice cream machine, a bouncy house, and a pinata.   We got everything set up Saturday morning and had our first ice cream cone at about 9:00 am.  Why don't we ever have dessert after breakfast?
The bouncy house was a huge hit.  It's a fabulous workout for adults too :)
Happy Birthday Trevor!  You are an amazing brother!  I love it when you call to chat a couple times a week and I know you have a generous heart.  Especially when it comes to your family.  I love you to the moon and back big brother!
Us girls attempted to make a UPS truck cake...
...here is ours and I will not show you the original picture of where we got our inspiration.  If I did, this cake would look like an epic fail!
I love this cheese ball! She is my little photographer.  If my camera was ever missing I knew who to ask.
Kassie and I reading books.  She had most of them memorized, little smarty pants!
The uncles liked to give the little photographer something to shoot.

And Aunt Krystal loves finding these kind of pictures on her camera when she gets it back!

 Cowboy Drake
Happy birthday to you!  God's blessings to you!
Love this picture... and the photo bomb!
 Bouncy house fun.

Ha!  This picture makes me smile!  Thanks Wyatt!
 Aww... so cute!
I can't believe he's getting big enough for this!

 Daddy and T on a 4-wheeler ride.
 Cool Kelsey in my sunglasses.
I'm pretty sure we went through all 6 ice cream mixes.  The boys had contests to see who could get theirs the tallest without it tipping over.

Sigh... how long will it be before it's not cool to take selfies with their aunt?  I love you guys more than you know.  It makes me so happy when I get to see you all.  My heart skips a beat.
I enjoyed the weekend so much, but I missed my hubby who was back home planting corn.  It was good to go back.

Happy Birthday Gavin!

We went to Gavin's birthday party and had a great time!

The tables were super cute with the fishing net and bobbers.

I loved the banner!
And of course, I had to check out the cake right away when I got there!  My friend, Liz, is so incredibly talented!

So I had this fish that kept eyeing me at at supper.  He was hanging from the ceiling and looks like he is in distress don't you think?
Gavin opened his presents after supper and got some really neat things.
Grandpa helping him with his BB gun.

And here's a few other shots of the cake.
The worms (made out of Bit O Honey) were one of my favorite things on this cake.

Happy Birthday Gavin!  We are so blessed to be a part of your birthday celebration!  We love you!

I think Mom was pretty excited about the BB gun as well :)
Hehe!  Love you Lizzy!
